Objective

Create a storage system for 3D printer filament that

Stores a large number of rolls
Displays the rolls, makes them quickly accessible
Takes up the least amount of space possible
Uses only readily available components

to replace the existing system of plastic bins

Solution

The solution uses 3D printed brackets to screw into ceiling joists and hold two closet rods. This makes it possible to create rows of arbitrary length and quantity quickly, and is easily expandable.

Performance & Impact

The solutions stores 72 rolls of filament and makes selecting and removing a spool extremely easy. Because it is ceiling mounted, it consumes effectively no space.
