Symphony is a new project in the H-STEM team within the Enterprise Program at Michigan Tech as of January 2026. We are developing collaborative autonomous systems designed to identify and support task completion, initially for movement assistance. I am the Team Lead of this project, responsible for managing project vision and direction, and ensuring timely deliverable completion.
THIS PROJECT IS UNDER ACTIVE DEVELOPMENT: THIS PAGE WILL BE UPDATED AS WORK IS COMPLETED
Most autonomous systems currently are reactionary -- they either operate in inherently predictable systems or produce a delayed response, neither of which is suitable for technology designed to collaborate with humans. The goal of the project is to develop a predictive system that can infer the intended future state of the system and autonomously plan actions to support it getting there. The test case for this paradigm is in movement assistance for the elderly, with a focus on stability.
